Our small business is located at Shop No. 06 in the Poonam Everest building. It’s a straightforward shopfront where we handle both imports and exports. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or anything like that; it’s just a practical space where we keep our records and talk to our clients. Being in a shop rather than a high-rise office makes it easier for people to just drop in and talk to us. We’ve got a lot of boxes around usually, as things are always coming in or being prepared to go out. The Poonam Everest building is a well-known spot in the neighborhood, so we get a fair amount of local foot traffic too. Our day-to-day involves checking on shipping schedules and making sure the customs papers are all filled out correctly. It can get a bit cramped when a big shipment arrives, but we’ve learned how to manage the space over the years. We drink a lot of tea and spend a lot of time on our mobile phones trying to track down where things are. It’s a simple life, and we like the independence of running our own shop. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, and there’s a good sense of community. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, we just want to do our work properly and keep our regular customers happy with what we do.
