Manohar Pada is a quiet enough area most of the time. My shop is just a basic place where people come when they need something quick. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for a long time now. You see the kids grow up and then they start bringing their own kids in for a piece of candy or a notebook. The shelves are packed with all sorts of things, maybe a bit too packed sometimes. I try to keep it organized but things have a way of getting mixed up when you’re busy. The morning starts with pulling up the metal shutter which always makes a loud scraping sound that the neighbors probably hate. I keep a small radio going in the corner just to have some background noise while I wait for people. It gets dusty because the door stays open to let the breeze in. I spend a lot of time sweeping or just looking out at the street. Sometimes the light inside is a bit dim because one of the bulbs flickered out and I haven't grabbed the ladder yet. People stop by to chat as much as they do to buy things. It’s just a small local shop. There isn't much to it besides the four walls and the stock we have on hand. It keeps me busy enough from morning until the evening. Usually, I’m the last one to close up on this stretch of the road.
