Being out in Badlapur means we deal with a different pace of life compared to central Mumbai. Joshi & Karandikar is just a local name here, tucked away in an area where everyone eventually knows everyone else. The monsoon season is always a bit of an adventure, with the tracks often flooding, but we still make it to the office. It’s not a fancy corporate building; it’s just a place in Maharashtra where we keep our records and meet clients who are usually our neighbors too. Our office is practical. We have desks, some old cupboards for the files, and a couple of computers that have seen better days. We don't spend money on expensive decor because that’s not what people come here for. They come because they have a GST problem or they need an audit done before the bank gets annoyed. Most of our day is spent typing away or talking on the phone to the tax department. We take our lunch breaks together, usually sharing whatever was brought from home. It's quiet most of the time, except when the local festival processions go by the main road. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We are just two people and a couple of assistants trying to keep up with all the changing rules and regulations. It's honest work, and it keeps us busy enough throughout the year. We are just local folks doing a job we know well.
