Gausia Cold Storage Pvt Ltd is located on Plot No M 7 in the MIDC area of Vashi. If you come into the industrial zone, you can’t miss the large warehouse structures. Our place is built specifically for keeping things cold, so the walls are thick and the doors are heavy. It is always a bit chilly when you walk near the storage units, which is a relief when the Mumbai sun is beating down outside. The office part of the building is just a small space near the front gate. We spend most of our time tracking the temperatures and managing the inventory coming in and out on the big refrigerated trucks. There is a constant hum of the cooling units in the background. It is a sound we don't even notice anymore, but visitors always comment on it. The yard is usually full of empty crates and drivers waiting for their turn to unload. We have a few plastic chairs and a simple desk where we handle the logs. It isn't a place for meetings or long chats; people come here to get their goods stored and then they head back out. The Vashi MIDC is a busy place with a lot of movement, and we are just one part of that big system. We have been managing the cold storage here for years and we know the machinery inside out. It is hard work but it keeps the food fresh, which is what matters.
