Our office is up on the 6th floor of Groma House, in B Wing, units 11 and 12. Being in Sector-19 of Vashi means we are right in the heart of the wholesale market area. From the windows, you can see all the trucks lined up down below and people scurrying around the station. It’s a busy building. The elevator is usually slow, so we end up waiting a lot just to get up to our floor. Inside, it’s all about the food packing. We have rows of tables where the bags are filled and sealed. There is a constant hum from the sealing machines and the sound of tape being pulled off rolls. It’s a bit loud for some people, but we’re used to it. We keep the paperwork in a small corner near the entrance. The light in the office is a bit harsh because of the fluorescent bulbs, but it helps us see what we are doing. We have a lot of different products coming through, so the smell changes depending on what we are packing that day. Some days it’s spices and other days it’s something else. We try to keep the floors clean, but with so many people and boxes moving around, there’s always a bit of debris. It’s a productive space, and we stay pretty busy from Monday to Saturday. Most of us commute from quite far away using the local trains.
