About Srinivas Farm – Agriculture & Farming in Suryapet
Life out here at Suryapet is mostly about the dirt and the weather. We are over at plot 12, and there is always something that needs fixing or planting. It’s a farm, so our schedule depends on the sun and the rain more than anything else. Some mornings are cold and quiet, and other days it’s a rush to get things harvested before a storm hits. We grow a bit of everything, depending on the season, and we have some animals to look after too. It’s not a hobby; it’s just how we make our living. My boots are usually covered in mud, and there is always a fence that needs mending somewhere on the property. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the land and how to work it. People from town sometimes come by to see what we have fresh, and we just sell what we can. It’s a lot of sweating under the sun and worrying about the water levels in the well. We’ve been on this land for a while, and the dirt stays the same even if the years change. It isn't a glamorous job, and my hands are always a bit rough from the work. We just keep our heads down, tend to the crops, and hope for a decent yield at the end of the month. It's a tiring job, but it's what we do.
