Wasims Salon Hair & Beauty is over in the Anmol Complex on Dumas Main Road. It’s right near Sargam Shopping Center, so there is always a lot of movement outside our windows. Most days start with us unlocking the shutters and getting the chairs wiped down before the first person walks in. The Dumas Road traffic starts picking up pretty early and doesn’t really stop until late. It gets a bit hot in here during the afternoons but we keep the fans going. We have been in Shop No U 11/12 for a while now. Most people know where it is because of the landmarks nearby. It’s not a huge place, just enough space for a few of us to work and a couple of chairs for people to wait. Sometimes the wait is short, sometimes it’s longer depending on how many people show up at once. We don't have a fancy system for appointments, mostly just folks walking in when they have time. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast so we are always sweeping. It is just the way it goes in a hair shop. We see a lot of the same faces from around the neighborhood. It is nice to recognize the people walking by. Sometimes someone just stops in to say hello while they are out shopping at the complex. We just keep things moving and try to get everyone sorted out. Usually, by the time we close up, we are pretty tired. That is just how work is.
