Vardhman Ganral Store

You can find Vardhman Ganral Store over at Kamrej Char Rasta on 5th Avenue. It’s a good location because there are always people walking past. We sell all kinds of general goods, from household cleaners to snacks. The shop isn't very big, so we have to use every inch of space we have. Even the ceiling has things hanging from it. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. We’ve got a small stool behind the counter where we sit when things get quiet. 5th Avenue can be quite noisy with the traffic from the Char Rasta, but we don’t mind it much. It means there’s life around us. We get the newspapers early in the morning and stack them near the door. Some people just come in for the paper and a quick hello. We try to stay organized with our stock, but sometimes things get misplaced behind the bigger boxes. My son helps me out in the evenings after he finishes his studies. He’s faster at counting the change than I am. We’ve been running this store at Kamrej for a few years now. It’s hard work and the days are long, but it’s a living. We don't have any big plans to expand or anything, we just want to keep things going as they are. It’s a decent place to work and meet the locals. We usually sweep the front every evening.
