Shreeji Ceramics

Our shop is right there in the Meridian Tower, specifically at Ug/2. Being beside Raj Kumar Theatre means it's always crowded around here. You can hear the crowds when a big movie lets out. Udhana Darwaja is a hectic part of town to do business in. At Shreeji Ceramics, we have stacks of tiles and samples everywhere. It’s hard to keep the floor clean with so many people walking in with dusty shoes. We spend half the day moving heavy boxes around. It’s physical work, and by the evening, our backs usually ache. The light in the Meridian Tower isn't the best in the back corners, so we use a lot of extra lamps. It’s a simple shop. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything. Most people just wander in because they were going to the theatre or they live in the neighborhood. We talk to everyone who walks through the door, even if they are just looking. Sometimes we drink a lot of coffee while discussing patterns with customers. It gets loud and hot during the summer months, but that is just Surat for you. The traffic at Udhana Darwaja is a nightmare during rush hour. We usually wait for it to die down before we head home. It’s a decent way to make a living, even if the work is heavy and the location is noisy.
