Shailbhadra Stone

Down here on Bhatar Road, we run Shailbhadra Stone out of the Nutan Avas Apartment. We're up on the 5th floor in unit 504. It might seem a bit odd to have a stone business in an apartment building, but it’s mostly where we handle the samples and the paperwork. The real heavy lifting happens elsewhere, but this is our home base. Near the Rupali Naher, it’s a pretty easy spot for people to find. We’ve got stacks of stone samples everywhere—granite, marble, you name it. It gets a bit dusty, no matter how much we clean, but that’s the nature of the trade. We spend our days talking to contractors and homeowners who are trying to pick out something for their kitchens or floors. It’s a lot of manual work and checking quality. We aren’t salesmen with suits; we’re more the type to have calloused hands and a cup of tea in our hands. The traffic on Bhatar Road can be a nightmare during rush hour, so we usually stay late to avoid it. We’ve been in this building for quite a while now and know all the neighbors. We just like dealing with good materials and honest people. There isn’t much more to it than that. We just do our job with the stones and try to make sure everything looks right before it leaves. It's a lot of physical labor, moving those heavy samples around all day, but we've gotten used to it over the years.
