Our place is over in Vesu, specifically at Nandanvan Apartment. It’s the D-101 unit where we handle most of the business for Sachin Dyestuff Llp. Living and working in Surat means you’re always around the textile trade, so getting into dyes made sense for us. It’s not a fancy glass office with a receptionist, just a practical space where we keep our records and talk to people on the phone. Vesu is a nice area, a bit different from the crowded industrial parts of the city, which we appreciate after a long day. We spend a lot of time on the phone or meeting with people who need specific colors for their fabrics. It’s a messy business sometimes, but someone has to do it. We started small and just kept going as the years went by. Sometimes it’s just one or two of us here, and other times it gets crowded with samples and folders. We like it this way because it’s quiet enough to actually get some work done without too many distractions. The apartment has been our base for a while now. We know the security guards and the other people in the building quite well. It feels more like a home-grown operation than a big corporation, which is fine by us. We deal with the day-to-day stuff, paying bills and making sure orders are moving along. It’s a simple life, honestly. We usually grab lunch from a nearby stall and then get back to it.
