Oberoi Hair & Beauty is tucked away in B 30 of the Royal Residency in Adajan Dn. It's a pretty well-known spot for the people around here because we're right opposite the Mahalaxmi Temple in Surat. I’ve noticed that a lot of people stop by after they visit the temple or when they are out for a walk in the evening. We’ve been at this location for some time now and the space is just enough for what we do. We handle hair cutting and basic beauty stuff for the residents and the locals. Living and working in the same area means I know most of the faces that come through the door. It’s not a polished corporate setup at all. It’s just me and a few others doing our jobs. We have our regulars who have been coming to us for years and we know exactly how they like things done. The temple across the street makes it very easy to give directions over the phone to new people. Sometimes the residency gets a bit crowded with cars, but usually, it's fine. We keep the shop open through the afternoon when it’s hot outside and it stays cool enough in here. It’s a steady kind of life. We don't use any fancy equipment, just the standard tools that get the work done. The floors get covered in hair by mid-afternoon, so we spend a lot of time sweeping. It’s just a normal day-to-day business.
