New Sai Kiran Hair Art is at 102 Saradar Palace on Parvat Patia Road. We are quite close to the Saradar Market in the Umarwada part of Surat. Being near the market means it’s always crowded outside with trucks and vendors. The shop is tucked into the building, providing a bit of a break from the noise. We have several mirrors lined up and some stools for the younger kids. Our counters are usually cluttered with spray cans, neck strips, and various razors. We start our day by cleaning the glass and checking the supplies. The light comes in through the front window but we mostly rely on the overhead bulbs. It’s a place where you can hear the snip of scissors all through the afternoon. We have a small television in the corner but we don't turn it on much unless there’s a big cricket game. Most of our regulars are workers from the market or people living in Saradar Palace. We keep the capes hung up on hooks behind the door. The sink drains a little slow sometimes but it works well enough for what we need. We don't use any fancy scents, just regular soap and water. It’s a straightforward business and we stay focused on the hair in front of us. The days go by fast when there’s a line of people waiting. We just keep our heads down and keep working until it’s time to close up the shop.
