Our shop is at 102 in Vijay Palace, which is on the main road going from Bombay Market to Punagam in Surat. We are right in the Punagam neighborhood and the Archana School is very close by. You can see the school kids and the buses passing by the window all the time. The shop is up on the first floor, so you have to walk up the stairs to find us. Inside, we have a fairly open room with a few tables for treatments and some chairs for hair work. We use some simple screens to give people a little bit of their own space. The walls are painted a light cream color and we have a few mirrors on the walls. It is not a very fancy or decorated place, just simple furniture that we use every day. We have a small area in the back for our supplies like clean towels and the different beauty products we use. The towels are constantly being washed and we hang them up to dry whenever we have a chance. We keep a small radio on for some background noise, usually just playing the local stations. The floor is tiled and we try to keep it clean, but the dust from the busy road outside makes it a constant job. It’s a local spot where people from around here come by. We spend most of our time just doing the routine work and keeping everything in order for the day.
