Narayana Reddy

This is Narayana Reddy's place, situated at Bombay Repowering near the Golden Hotel on Surat Road in Bardoli. We spend our days working on engines and machinery mostly. It’s a greasy job, and our hands are rarely clean, but that’s the way it goes in this line of work. Being near the hotel makes it easy for people to find us when they are passing through Bardoli. We see a lot of trucks and heavy vehicles coming off Surat Road needing various bits of help. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy things for us. It’s just us and our tools. Sometimes the heat in the workshop gets a bit much during the summer, but we keep the fans going and get on with it. We’ve been at this for a long time. People trust us because we’ve lived here and worked here forever. We aren't a corporate chain; it’s a local setup through and through. If a machine isn't running right, we take it apart and see what’s wrong. It’s not complicated, just requires a bit of patience and some old-fashioned elbow grease.
