Maa Khodiyar Jyotish

Being in Katargam at Mullanpur Talwandi Khurd 1 means we see a lot of familiar faces every day. Maa Khodiyar Jyotish is a small setup, just a room where we can sit and talk. It’s right in the middle of everything, so you can hear the sounds of the village and the nearby shops all day long. We don't have any fancy decorations. There is a calendar on the wall and a pile of almanacs on the corner of the desk. People drop by without calling first, which is fine with us. They might want to know a good time for a housewarming or just ask about their son's exams. We sit together and look at the charts. Sometimes we have to light a candle if the power goes out, which happens now and then. It’s a very relaxed way of doing things. We know most of the families around here, so it feels more like talking to neighbors than doing business. My chair has a bit of a wobble to it, but I’ve had it for years and I’m used to it now. We spend our mornings doing the math for the daily charts and our afternoons talking to whoever comes in. There is no rush and no pressure. We just provide a place where people can come and get a bit of clarity based on the stars and the old traditions we learned.
