Leela Laxmi The Stone World

Our place is on the second floor at 32/A Plot No 05. It's on the Udhana Magdalla Road, right in G P Park Society near Gandhi Kutir. It’s a bit of a climb to get up here, especially when we’re talking about stone. Leela Laxmi The Stone World has a lot of samples laid out. We spend our time looking at different textures and colors of rocks. It’s quieter up here on the second floor than it is down on the main road, which is nice. We have a view of the street from the window. The 9th F Main Road is always busy. Sometimes it’s hard for people to find the right entrance because the building layout is a bit confusing. We just tell them to look for the sign near Gandhi Kutir. It’s a family business, mostly. We take our time with each person who comes in. There’s no rush. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in town. We just want to do our job and go home to our families. The stones get heavy, and my hands are always a bit rough from touching them all day. We keep a ledger for everything. It’s a simple way to run things. We don't need fancy tools. Just a bit of patience and some good light to show the stone. It is a steady way to spend the day.
