About Laxmi Bricks – Building & Construction Material in Surat
The yard at Laxmi Bricks stays pretty busy most days. We are right there at Sarthana Jathanak, just off Waracha Road, which means there is always a lot of noise and traffic passing by. It is not a fancy place by any means. There is dust everywhere and the ground is usually covered in red clay. Our days start early, usually before the sun gets too hot, because once the heat hits, working near the kilns is tough. The staff here are mostly local guys who have been doing this for years. They know exactly how the fire needs to be tended. You can see the tall stacks of bricks from a distance when you are coming down the road. Sometimes the trucks get backed up waiting to load, and it gets a bit chaotic with everyone shouting and trying to get things moved. We just try to keep things moving as best as we can. It’s a lot of physical labor, stacking and unstacking, making sure the shapes are right before they go in. The weather is a big factor for us. If it rains unexpectedly, it makes a mess of the drying area and we have to scramble to cover things up. People around Waracha Road know us as just another local business trying to get by. It is a gritty job but there is something satisfying about seeing a fresh batch come out right. We don’t have any big corporate office, just a small desk and a lot of outdoor space for the materials.
