Lalabhai Jyotish Shastry

We are over at 1034 Ring Road, which is a fairly busy spot if you know the area. As Lalabhai Jyotish Shastry, the day starts pretty early with a cup of tea before the first person arrives. The office is not very large, but it has enough room for a few people to sit and wait. You can hear the noise from the road all day long, which you just get used to after a while. Most of the time, I am just sitting at the desk going through my papers. It is a very normal environment, nothing like those corporate offices with glass walls. We have some old shelves for books and some pictures on the wall that have been there forever. The address is easy to find because everyone knows Ring Road, though 1034 is tucked in between some other shops. I spend a lot of time just chatting with the neighbors when things are slow. It is an honest way to spend the day, just being here for the community. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the window, but we put a bucket there and it’s fine. I like the feeling of having a regular place where people can just show up without a lot of fuss. It keeps things simple and manageable for me and everyone else. The days go by fast when you are busy talking to different people about their lives and problems.
