Kumar Family Salon

Our place is A-105 inside the Money Arcade building on Canal Road. If you know where G.D. Goenka School is in Vesu, then you are very close to us. Being in a big building like Money Arcade means there are always people moving around. We get a lot of families coming in because of the schools and apartments nearby. The salon has big glass windows so we can see the traffic on Canal Road. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty outside with all the new construction in Vesu, so we have to wipe the glass every morning. Inside, we have enough chairs for three or four people to sit at once. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that, one of us just looks up when the door opens. The air conditioner works well which is a relief during the Surat summers. We have a small corner for kids to sit where they won't wiggle too much during a haircut. Most of the day is spent sweeping up hair and cleaning the combs. It is a decent space and we try to keep it organized even when we are busy. We don't do much advertising, people just see the sign when they go to the shops in the arcade. It is a quiet place mostly, except when the school lets out and the road gets jammed with cars and vans. We usually stay open until about eight in the evening. There is no need for fancy talk, we just cut hair and go home.
