You can find Rubber Udhyog Pvt. Ltd. over at Plot No. 64-65 in the B Nanji Indl. Est. The first thing you will notice when you walk in is the heavy smell of burnt rubber. It is something you never really stop smelling, even after you go home and wash your clothes. We have these large presses that use a lot of heat to mold the raw rubber into different shapes. The air is always very warm inside the building, and we have big industrial fans to try and keep the temperature down for the workers. The plot is quite large since we need a lot of space for the raw rubber sheets and the finished products. We share the space between two plots, 64 and 65, so there is a bit of walking back and forth throughout the day. The gates are heavy iron and they squeak loudly every time you open them. We have a small crew and most of us have known each other for many years. We do not have a corporate office with air conditioning or fancy rugs. We just have a small desk near the main entrance where we keep the delivery notes and the phone. It is a very practical environment for this kind of manufacturing. We do not use fancy words to describe what we do here. We just make rubber parts for various uses. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the whole afternoon tinkering with them to get the pressure right. It is a lot of physical work, but it is what we know how to do.
