Modi International

Our place is over at P/302 in the New GIDC area. You take Fulpada Road to get to Katargam, and that’s where you’ll find us. It’s an industrial part of town, so there aren't many trees, just a lot of buildings and trucks. Modi International is basically just a workshop and an office. We spend most of our hours looking at machines and making sure everything is running like it’s supposed to. It can get pretty loud during the day, so we usually have to shout to be heard. We don’t have a fancy lobby with chairs. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us on the shop floor with grease or dust on our clothes. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes we stay late on Fridays to finish up a big batch. The tea stall down the road is where we usually take our breaks. Everyone in this part of GIDC knows each other. We help each other out when a machine breaks down or a delivery gets lost. We’ve been at this Katargam location for a good bit now. It’s not the prettiest neighborhood, but it’s where we get things done. We focus on the work and let everything else take care of itself. Usually, we keep the main door cracked open to get a little bit of a breeze through the workspace, even if it brings in some noise from the street. It just feels better than being cooped up.
