Karishma Beauty Parlour

Karishma Beauty Parlour sits at number 10 in Shree Ram Kutir, right on the busy Udhna Road. This part of Surat, specifically the Chikuwadi area, has a lot of traffic and people going to work. The shop is basically a small room where I have set up the basic things for my work. I started this place because I wanted something of my own in the 395003 area. Most of the people who come here live in the nearby apartments or houses in Chikuwadi. They drop in to get their hair done or maybe for some threading before they go to a party. The walls are painted a simple color and I have a few posters of different hairstyles just to fill the space. It gets a bit noisy because of the trucks and cars on Udhna Road, but you stop noticing it after a few hours. I usually keep a small radio playing in the corner to have some background noise. It is just me here most of the time, so I handle the cleaning, the customers, and the shopping for supplies myself. The days can be long, especially when there is a holiday coming up and everyone wants to look neat. I don't have a big staff or anything like that. It is just a honest little business where we do the work and try to keep things tidy for the next person who walks through the door.
