Kanan International

Out here in Tarapur, we’ve set up a small spot for Kanan International. It’s a bit different from the bigger cities, but the work remains the same. Most of the people who come see us are looking for a way to study abroad or get their paperwork sorted for international travel. We spend our days going through various documents and explaining how the whole process works. It isn't always quick, as anyone who has dealt with embassies knows. We just sit here and go through the details one by one. Our office isn't anything special to look at, just a functional space where we can focus on the tasks at hand. We’ve been part of the community for a while, and people know they can just walk in and ask questions. We don't use a lot of big words or complicated jargon. We just tell it like it is. If a file is missing something, we say so. If a process is going to take months, we let them know that too. It’s better to be honest about the timelines. We handle a lot of different cases every week. Each one is a little different, but we’ve seen enough now to know the common hurdles. It’s a quiet kind of business but it keeps us on our toes. We’re just local people helping other locals figure out how to get where they want to go. We keep things moving and try to stay on top of the files.
