Hari Om Hair Saloon

Hari Om Hair Saloon is located at Shop No 3 in the Soham Complex. It sits right at the Dabholi Char Rasta area of Surat. We see a lot of people passing through this intersection every single day. If you look across the way, you can see the Varachha Bank, which is a good landmark for people trying to find us. The shop isn't anything fancy, just a few chairs and mirrors. We open the doors early in the morning and start sweeping the floor. There is always dust coming in from the road because it's so busy outside. We spend the whole day standing here. Sometimes we have a radio playing in the corner, but mostly it's just the sound of the scissors and the traffic. People from the neighborhood stop in after work. We know most of the guys who live around Dabholi. They sit on the bench and wait their turn while talking about the weather or the local news. It gets pretty loud sometimes, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work. We spend most of the day standing on our feet, using our scissors and combs. There is usually some hair on the floor because it’s hard to keep up with the broom when it gets busy. The fans stay on all day to keep the place cool, though it still gets warm when the sun hits the front of the complex. It is a simple life running a shop like this, but we are used to the routine of it.
