Gokul Dairy Farm

Gokul Dairy Farm has been a part of this neighborhood in Udhna Madanjhapa for quite a while now. Our day starts very early, usually way before the sun is even thinking about coming up, because that’s when the milk arrives and we have to get everything ready for the morning rush. Vadodara can be pretty hot, so we spend a lot of time checking the cooling units and making sure the curd is setting just right. It’s a messy job sometimes, dealing with crates and heavy cans, but it’s honest work. The shop isn't much to look at, just a counter and the big fridges in the back, but we keep it clean. People come in with their steel containers, or they just grab a few packets of milk on their way home from work. We have some butter and paneer too, depending on what we managed to make that day. Sometimes we run out of stuff by the afternoon if the demand is high, so we just tell people to come back the next morning. It’s a simple routine. We know most of the faces that walk through the door by name now. It’s not a big corporate operation, just us working in this corner of Vadodara 79, trying to make sure there’s enough fresh dairy for everyone nearby. The floor gets a bit wet from the ice melting, and it smells like fresh milk all day long.
