Gokul Dairy & Sweets

Gokul Dairy & Sweets is our place in Piplod Shah Parbat Ramji, specifically at Bandrekarwadi U-8. It is a combined shop where we handle both milk and various sweets. The smell of warm sugar and fresh milk is always there every single morning when we open up the shutters. We get the milk delivery very early, usually before the sun is even up over the buildings. Piplod Shah Parbat Ramji is a busy neighborhood with many families, so we have people coming in for their morning supplies as soon as we open. Bandrekarwadi U-8 is easy to find if you know these streets at all. We make some of the sweets right here in the small kitchen in the back. It gets very hot back there with the big metal pots and the burners going. My hands are almost always a bit sticky by the end of my shift. We have glass display cases to show people what we have ready for the day. Sometimes the flies get in when the door stays open and we have to chase them out. It is a lot of cleaning to keep things looking okay. We use a lot of stainless steel containers for the milk and curds. People come in for the big festivals and things get extremely busy then. We barely have any time to sit down or take a break during those weeks. The rest of the year is much more steady and predictable.
