Friends Family Saloon

We are tucked away at number 1, Ramkrishna Society. It’s right at the Matawadi Char Rasta. If you know where Shiv Nagar is, we are just a short walk from there. It’s a family saloon, which means we see everyone. Grandpas, dads, and the little kids who are scared of the clippers. I’ve lived in Matawadi for most of my life, so I know most of the people who walk through the door. The shop has a big glass front, but we have to keep the curtains half-drawn because the afternoon sun hits it directly and makes it too hot. We have three chairs and a small area where people can wait. There is a tea stall right next door, so the shop usually smells a bit like ginger tea and smoke. It’s a noisy corner with all the rickshaws honking at the four-way crossing. Sometimes we have to shout over the noise to talk to the customers. We don't have any fancy signs or neon lights. Just the name on the door. The floor is a bit worn down in front of the chairs from years of walking around them. It’s a honest living. We open at nine and stay until the last customer is done, which is usually quite late. It’s a busy life but it’s our life. We keep a plastic bowl for tools on each station.
