Eves Beauty Parlour

You can find Eves Beauty Parlour at Shop No 9 inside the Madhulika Apartment on Bhatar Road. We are directly opposite the Banarasi Pan House, which is a big landmark for people around here. The smell of the pan and the snacks sometimes drifts over when the wind is right. This part of Surat is very active, and being on Bhatar Road means there is never a dull moment. The shop is not very large, but we have managed to fit everything into the space. I have a few stools for people to sit on while they wait their turn. Most of our regulars come from the 395007 area. They know me by name and we usually talk about the weather or what is happening in the local news while I work. I spend a lot of my time making sure the combs are clean and the products are lined up on the shelves. It’s just a regular beauty shop, nothing like those big salons you see in the malls. We use simple tools and do the work the way it has always been done. The floor is tiled, and I have to sweep it several times a day because of the hair. It can get a bit cramped when more than two people are waiting, but nobody seems to mind much. We just make room and keep going. It’s a practical way to earn a living and stay connected to the community here.
