If you know Varachha Road, you know how hectic it gets with the traffic and the noise from the high tension lines overhead. We sit right here in Poddar Arcade at number 208. Chaitanya Ceramics has been our life for quite a while now. When you spend all day around tiles and stone, you start to notice the small details in everything. The shop is usually filled with a bit of dust from the samples, but that’s just how it is in this trade. Customers come in looking for something specific for their kitchens or bathrooms, and we just show them what’s sitting in the back or what’s on the racks. The arcade itself is always buzzing with people going up and down the stairs. Sometimes the light inside the shop gets a bit dim when the sun moves behind the big buildings across the street. We don’t have any big speeches to give about what we do. It’s just ceramics. You pick what you like, we tell you how much it costs, and that’s the end of it. My family has been in this trade for a bit, so we just carry on the same way. It gets crowded on the weekends especially when people are off work and trying to fix up their homes. We just try to keep things organized as much as possible, even though the piles of inventory seem to grow on their own sometimes. It’s just a normal local shop on a very busy road.
