as architect

Our office is located at 140 in Yogeshwar Park Society, which is over in the Dindoli area of Surat. It’s a pretty quiet residential spot, which is nice when you’re trying to focus on drawings. I’ve been working as an architect here for a while now. It’s just a small space, nothing like those big firms you see downtown. I mostly handle everything myself or with a little bit of help. There’s always a stack of drawings on the table and some half-finished sketches lying around. Surat is a city that never stops building, so there is always something to do. Whether it’s a small renovation or a new house in the society, I just take it as it comes. I don’t have a big mission statement or any of that stuff. I just like to make sure the measurements are right and the client is happy with the layout. It can be a bit stressful when deadlines are close, and the office gets a bit chaotic. I don’t pretend to be the most organized person, but the work gets done and the buildings get built. People from around the neighborhood just drop in to chat about their ideas. It’s a very informal way of working, but it suits Dindoli. Just a local architect doing regular work. Sometimes the cat from next door even wanders in while I'm working on a floor plan.
