If you go down Dabholi Road, you’ll find us in the Dharmnandan Complex at Shop Number 3. Dabholi is a part of town that has grown a lot lately. Our shop is pretty basic, just like most of the others in this complex. We have three chairs for customers and a small area where people can wait their turn. The walls have some old calendars and maybe a clock that’s a few minutes fast. We don’t really worry about having the latest furniture or anything like that. As long as the scissors are sharp and the chairs are comfortable, it’s fine. Most of the guys from the nearby apartments come here because it's close and we don’t make them wait too long. The street outside can get quite muddy when it rains, so we are always reminding people to wipe their feet before they come in. We keep a radio on the shelf that plays local stations all day long. It helps pass the time when the shop is empty. We’ve known the other shop owners in the complex for years, so we often share a tea in the afternoon when the sun is high. It’s a quiet way to make a living. We just focus on the task at hand and try to make sure everyone leaves looking a bit better. That is how we spend our days here in Dabholi.
