About Ambica Tyre Soles – Fashion & Trends in Surat
Our shop is right across from Hotel Ratan on P. R. Marg. You can usually smell the rubber before you even see the sign. We spend most of our time working with tyres, specifically doing the soles and retreading work that keeps old vehicles on the road. It’s messy work. My clothes always have black marks on them and the floor is covered in scraps. P. R. Marg stays fairly busy, so there’s always a car or a truck pulling up to ask about a repair. We have a few old machines that have been with us for years, and they still do the job just fine if you know how to handle them. The weather affects the rubber, so some days are harder than others depending on if it’s raining or too hot. We don’t have a big waiting room, just a couple of plastic chairs tucked under the awning. People usually just stand around and chat while we work. It’s not a high-tech setup, just a lot of manual labor and knowing how to fix a tyre so it lasts a bit longer. We see a lot of the same drivers every few months. It’s a decent living and it keeps us occupied from morning until late evening when we finally roll the shutters down. It’s just us here most days, trying to get the jobs done before the street lights come on.
