Kalpna Apartment is where you can find us, just across from V.J Mehta Hospital. It is a handy spot because people visiting the hospital or students from Navyug College often drop in. The salon is not very big, but it fits what we need for the daily work. I usually get here early in the morning to sweep the floor and get the towels ready. The location helps stay busy throughout the day. Sometimes we get a group of college boys all at once, and the place feels a bit loud, but it's nice to have the energy around. Other times, it's just quiet residents from the apartment upstairs coming for a trim. We have lived in this part of Surat for years, so we know most of the faces passing by our door. I didn't want a place that looked like a corporate chain. It’s got a few mismatched chairs and a small radio that usually plays the news. My hands are always busy with the scissors or the razor. It gets tiring standing all day, but that is the work. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy, just the name on the door. People find us anyway. Most of our regulars have been coming since we first set up shop. It's just about doing the job and making sure someone looks decent when they leave. That is pretty much the whole story of 20 Mans Salon.
