You can find us in Lal Bazar, over in the Bot Shah Mohalla area of Srinagar. It’s an old part of the city with narrow lanes and a lot of history. Our office is right there in the middle of it. In the winter, it gets quite cold, so we spend a lot of time huddled around the heaters while we check the papers. The streets outside can be very quiet or very loud, depending on the day. We have been here for years, and everyone in the mohalla knows us. We don’t have any fancy signs or modern decor. It’s just an old building with wooden floors that creak when you walk. We deal with securities and such, but we do it in a very old-fashioned way. There’s a lot of sitting and talking over tea. We don’t rush things. The pace in Srinagar is different from the big cities, and we like it that way. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power goes for a bit, so we just wait it out. It’s a small operation, and we don’t have a lot of staff. We just keep track of things and make sure the books are right. It’s a simple life in a beautiful, if sometimes difficult, place. We are just part of the local fabric here in Lal Bazar. When the snow starts falling, we might close a bit early, but otherwise, we are always here. It is a quiet existence.
