Marble City (Pg Industry Ld.)

Our place is located right on Chattarpur Mandir Main Road, at 156-A. It’s pretty easy to find because we are directly opposite the Parkland Exotica Hotel. Most days, the traffic on this road is quite heavy, so there is always a lot of noise and movement outside our gates. Inside, it’s mostly about the marble. We have slabs leaning against the walls and stacked in the yard. Marble City is a busy spot, especially when new shipments arrive. The guys spend a lot of time moving these heavy pieces around with the cranes. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find everything polished and perfect; it’s a working warehouse. We have people coming in all the time to look at the patterns in the stone. No two pieces are ever really the same, so it takes a bit of time to look through everything. We usually have some tea going in the back if the weather is cold. We don't do a lot of fancy talking here. If you like a piece of stone, we figure out how to get it to your site. That's about it. The office is small and usually has some stone dust on the table, but it works for us. Living and working on Main Road means we see a lot of people passing by. We’ve become a bit of a fixture in this part of Chattarpur over the years.
