Ishara Puppet Theatre

Our space is located at B-2/2211 in Vasant Kunj. It’s not your typical office because there are puppets and props everywhere you look. We use this place for rehearsals, making new characters, and planning our shows. Vasant Kunj is a busy residential area, but our little corner is where all the creative stuff happens. You might find bits of wood, fabric, and paint lying around on the tables. It gets a bit messy sometimes, but that’s just how we work. We’ve been doing puppet theatre for a long time and this has been our base. People often ask what goes on here, and it's mostly just us practicing our movements or fixing up a puppet that got worn out during a performance. We don't have a big stage here, just enough room to move around and try out new ideas. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, though it gets intense when a festival is coming up. We drink a lot of tea and talk about stories. It's a small group of us who really care about this craft. Sometimes we have workshops or just spend the whole afternoon sewing. It’s a quiet street for the most part, which helps when we’re trying to focus. We aren't trying to be anything fancy, just a group of people keeping an old art form going in a modern city. Every day is a bit different depending on which show we are working on.
