Shubra Dairy Farms Private Limited is out here in Pilliem, specifically at H. No. 51 in Darbandora. South Goa is a good place for cows because it’s a bit more peaceful than the north. We spend our mornings very early, usually before the sun is even up, getting the milking started. It’s a lot of work keeping a dairy farm going. There’s always cleaning to do and the animals need constant looking after. We have our main office at the house address, but most of the action happens in the back where the stalls are. Darbandora has some good grazing land if you know where to look. We aren't some massive industrial milk plant. We’re just a local farm trying to provide good milk to the people nearby. Sometimes the cows get stubborn or a piece of equipment breaks, and we have to fix it ourselves. It's a muddy job in the monsoon season, that’s for sure. My family has been around this part of Goa for ages, so we know the land well. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing fancy paperwork unless we absolutely have to. Most of the day is just spent with the animals and making sure the milk stays fresh and gets where it needs to go. It’s a long day, but when you see the fresh milk ready, it feels like we’ve done something useful. We just try to keep the farm running smooth as we can.
