Merces is a bit away from the main beach crowds in Goa, and that’s where we are based. Our office is in B 11 Mark Residency in Caitan Vaddo. It’s a much more local part of the state, surrounded by houses and small shops rather than big hotels. We deal with the beer side of things, so there is often a bit of talk about stock and distribution going on. The building is a regular apartment complex, so it doesn't look like a corporate headquarters at all. You might see a few of our vehicles parked outside or a delivery being organized. The humidity in Dovernem can be pretty thick, so we keep the windows open to catch any breeze we can. We are a small crew here. We don't spend our time in suits or having long, pointless meetings. Usually, we’re just checking numbers or talking to the guys who handle the logistics. It’s a relaxed atmosphere, which is just the Goan way, I suppose. Even though we are part of a bigger name, this office feels very much like a local venture. We know the people in the village and they know us. We don't have a fancy reception desk or anyone to greet you with a brochure. It’s just a place where we do the work of getting the product where it needs to go. We like the simplicity of it. It’s a job that keeps us busy, but we still find time to enjoy the local pace.
