We operate out of two basement spots, one in Dayanand Colony at A-92 and another in Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar IV. It’s a bit cramped downstairs, and the lighting isn't always the best, but we have enough space for all the boards and components we work with. Most of the day is spent hunched over a workbench with a soldering iron. It smells like burnt plastic and solder most of the time. We take in various electronic pieces that aren't working right and try to see what's wrong. Sometimes it’s just a loose wire, other times it’s something we can’t fix, but we always take a look. Dealing with two basements means a lot of running up and down the stairs. It keeps us active, I guess. We aren't one of those big service centers with a waiting room and coffee. People just drop their stuff off and we give them a slip of paper. It’s mostly just us and the sound of the fan humming in the corner. We get a lot of regulars from around the Lajpat Nagar area who know where to find us. The cell phone reception is pretty bad down there, so if you call and don't get through, we're probably just deep in the back room working on something. It’s a quiet life, mostly focused on small parts and tiny screws that are easy to lose on the floor. We just do the work and hope the machines start up again when we plug them in.
