Supershine Art Dyers

We are Supershine Art Dyers and we work out of Lajpat Nagar G-6. The shop always smells a bit like steam and chemicals because of the dyeing process. We have large vats in the back where the colors get mixed. It’s messy work. Our hands are usually stained some shade of blue or red by the end of the day. Lajpat Nagar is a busy place for clothes, so we get a lot of fabric coming through our doors. Some people bring in old curtains they want to refresh, and others have new pieces that need a specific shade. We don't use any fancy machines; it’s mostly just us watching the pots and making sure the fabric takes the color right. The front of the shop has racks where we hang things up to dry. It can get pretty humid in here, especially in the summer. We have a couple of fans going, but they mostly just move the warm air around. We’ve been doing this for a long time at this G-6 address. We don't have a glossy catalog or anything like that. We just show people samples of what we’ve done before on scraps of cloth. It’s a practical trade and we just focus on getting the colors to look the way people want. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it perfect, but we stick with it until it’s right.
