Shibu Fruits

Shibu Fruits is sitting right on the Malviya Nagar Main Market Road. If you know the area, you know how much traffic there is and how people are always rushing around. Our day starts while most of the city is still asleep because we have to go out and pick the fruit we can find at the big mandis. By the time the shops open, we’re back here stacking everything up on the crates. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving heavy boxes around and making sure nothing gets bruised. We don’t have a big air-conditioned shop. It’s mostly open to the street, so we get all the dust and the noise from the cars passing by. Some people just pull up their cars and shout their orders from the window. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep everything looking fresh when the sun is beating down on the stall all afternoon. We have a couple of fans that we keep running, but they don't do much. It’s a simple business. We sell what’s in season, so the shop looks different every few months depending on if it's mango season or apple season. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here on the main road, and they stop by on their way home. It’s just us, the fruit, and a lot of daily hard work.
