Ansari Fruit Corner

Ansari Fruit Corner is right in the middle of the Sabzi Market at 82 Malviya Nagar, specifically New Bhagat Singh Market. If you know this area, you know how crowded it gets. We are surrounded by other vendors selling all sorts of things. Our day starts way before the sun is up, usually at the big wholesale markets getting the crates for the day. By the time most people are waking up, we are already setting out the apples, bananas, and whatever else is in season. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying. The shop isn't very big, so we have to stack the crates high to make room. It’s noisy, with people shouting prices and rickshaws squeezing past. We’ve been at this spot for a long time, so we know most of the regular customers by name. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk up and see what looks good. Some days the fruit is perfect, other days it's a struggle to find the best stuff. We just try to keep things fresh and keep the flies away as much as we can. It’s a simple life. When the day is done, we pack up what’s left and sweep the floor. It’s tiring work being on your feet all day in the market, but it’s what we know. We have been in this same corner for many years and keep doing it.
