S. A. Shawl

We have our place set up at B - 45 - A in Nizamuddin West. It is a quiet enough corner of the neighborhood, and we’ve been here for a good while. S. A. Shawl is more about the craft and the items we have rather than having a flashy showroom. We spend a lot of our time sorting through different fabrics and checking the quality of the work. It’s a very hands-on process. Nizamuddin is a place with a lot of soul, and we feel like our business fits right in with the local vibe. We don't do much in the way of advertising; most people just find us by walking through the lanes or hearing about us from a friend. Our space is filled with stacks of textiles, and sometimes it feels a bit cramped, but it’s a working space first and foremost. We focus on the things we know best. It’s not a complicated business model. We just pick out good materials and make sure they get to the right people. Sometimes we sit and have tea with the people who drop by, discussing the different patterns and weights of the cloth. It’s a slow and steady way of doing things, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re just regular people doing what we know how to do in a neighborhood we love. There is a sense of peace in working with these fabrics every day.
