Naresh Paper Bhandar

We sit here at Shop No 198/57 in Ramesh Market, right in the East Of Kailash area. It is a busy spot, mostly because we are situated beside Sapna Cinema. People use the cinema as a landmark to find us. The shop itself, Naresh Paper Bhandar, is full of paper of all sorts. If you walk in, you will see stacks of it piled up on the wooden shelves. Some of the bundles are wrapped in brown paper and tied with string. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives. We have to move things around to make space on the floor. The morning usually starts with a cup of tea from the vendor across the street. We sweep the front of the shop and get things ready for the day. Being in a place like Ramesh Market means there is always noise from the street. You hear the autos honking and people talking as they head toward the cinema. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that hums all day long. Sometimes the light is a bit dim in the back, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a basic business. We deal with regular customers who have been coming to this lane for years. We spend most of our time counting sheets or organizing the different weights of paper. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down over East Of Kailash. It's just us and the paper.
