Maharani Departmental Store

We are located at Shop Number 36 in the Main Market of Defence Colony. Most people know us because we are right opposite Sagar Ratna, which is a big landmark around here. Our store isn't like the big supermarkets you see in malls. It’s more of a local place where we keep a bit of everything packed onto the shelves. We’ve got snacks, imported chocolates, cleaning supplies, and the usual pantry staples like rice and lentils. The aisles are narrow because we try to fit as much stock as possible into the space. Delhi summers are no joke, so the air conditioning is always running, even if it struggles sometimes when the door keeps opening. We have a few guys who help with carrying heavy bags to cars or delivering to the houses nearby in the 110024 zip code. The counter is usually piled high with bread crates in the morning. We know most of the faces that walk in, since they’ve been shopping with us for years. It is a bit hectic during the evenings when everyone is getting home from work and realizes they forgot milk or eggs. We just keep things moving, scanning items and bagging them up as fast as we can. It is a practical shop for the residents here, and we just focus on keeping the shelves full and the floor clean enough. There is always something to restock or a box to unpack.
