Iinternational Tycoon

Our office is in the basement at 500/5A in Govindpuri. It’s down a few steps, so it stays a bit cooler than the street level, which is nice in the summer. Being in Kalkaji, it’s always busy outside. We deal with a lot of different things, mostly just trading what people ask for. The space is a bit cramped because we keep a lot of files and some samples down here. We don’t have much natural light, so the overhead bulbs are always on. Sometimes the ceiling leaks a little when it rains hard, but we just put a bucket under it. It’s a straightforward business. We talk to people on the phone and try to get orders sorted. It’s not always organized perfectly. There’s usually a stack of mail on the desk that nobody has opened yet. We’ve been here for some time now. People know us in the neighborhood as the guys in the basement. We don't have fancy furniture, just some old metal cabinets and a couple of wooden chairs. It’s enough for what we do. We eat lunch at our desks most days. It’s just how we operate. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to use flashlights to find things. It’s part of the job. We keep a spare set of keys behind the door just in case somebody forgets theirs at home.
