We’re based at house number 7A in Hauz Rani, which is part of the Malviya Nagar area in New Delhi. It’s an old neighborhood with lots of narrow lanes and a lot of history. We’ve been doing engineering work here for a long time now. The workshop isn’t huge, but we’ve managed to fit all the tools and machines we need into the space we have. It’s a bit of a maze getting here if you don’t know the turns, but the locals can always point you to Harji Engg. We spend our days mostly covered in a bit of grease or dust, depending on what we’re building or fixing that day. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. We have a small crew of guys who really know their way around a lathe and a welding torch. We talk about the projects over tea and sometimes stay late when a job needs to be finished by morning. Malviya Nagar is a busy place, and there's always someone coming by to ask for a quick repair or to talk about a bigger engineering project. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. Word of mouth has always been how people find us. It’s just honest, hard work being done by people who have spent their lives learning the trade. We like being part of the local fabric here in the 110 017 area.
