Down here in Uttam Nagar, things are always moving fast. Our place is on the ground floor, right at A-2/131, which is handy because we’re so close to the main market. You can hear the shouting from the street vendors and the rickshaws all day long. We do a lot of graphic work and printing here. The machines can get pretty loud when they’re all running at once. It gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of paper stock delivered, and sometimes you have to step over boxes just to get to the back. It’s not a fancy studio with mood lighting or anything like that. It’s just a workspace with bright tube lights and a lot of ink smells. We’ve got a couple of old computers that still work fine for what we need. Most of our time is spent fixing files or checking how the colors look on the final print. The guys from the market often drop in just to say hello or ask for a quick job. We don’t have a big reception area; you just walk straight into where we’re working. It’s practical and it works for us. We’ve been in this part of Uttam Nagar for a good while now, and we’ve seen the market change a lot over the years. We keep a small kettle for tea in the corner because the days can get long. It’s just how we run things here.
