About Fruits Corner – Food & Beverages in South Delhi
Fruits Corner is tucked away in the Kapashera Veer Bazar Wali Gali. It’s a narrow lane, and it gets quite muddy when it rains. We set up early every morning before the sun gets too high. The fruit comes in big wooden crates, and we have to sort through them to see what’s good. It’s a lot of colors—yellow mangoes in the summer and bright oranges in the winter. We don't have a permanent structure with glass windows, it’s more of an open setup. The flies can be a bit of a nuisance, so we’re always waving them away. People walking through the gali stop to ask about the prices, and there’s always a bit of bargaining going on. That’s just the way it works here. We keep our scales on a wooden table that’s seen better days. By the evening, the street gets really busy with people coming back from the factories nearby. It’s loud and dusty, but we like being in the middle of it. We don't use any fancy packaging, just newspaper or plastic bags if someone really needs one. The fruit smells sweet, especially when it's really ripe. It's a simple way to make a living, and we've been doing it this way for years. We stay open until the last crate is empty or it gets too dark to see. The streetlights around here aren't very reliable, so we usually head home around then. It’s a long day but it’s our usual routine.
